Xinying Zheng
I am a second-year PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. My advisor at UIUC is Prof. Indranil Gupta and Prof. Yongjoo Park.
Before that, I was an undergraduate research assistant at Southern University of Science and Technology advised by Prof.Bo Tang. I also used to be a research intern at UCI supervised by Prof.Michael Carey.
My research interests lie in the broad area of database systems and distributed systems. I have experience in the following topics:
- Optimizing Log compaction in Shared-log-based systems
- Building Externally-Synchronous Replicated Filesystems
- GPU Acceleration for Apache Hive
- Performance study for Apache AsterixDB
- Outlier Detection in edge computing enviroment
- Large-scale Entity Blocking
My ultimate career goal is to design future-oriented systems and algorithms that will change people’s lives.
